<h1>Oculus Quest 2 Elite Strap Battery Mount </h1> I was looking for the perfect battery mount for my new Oculus Quest 2 with Elite Strap, but couldn't find anything that I liked, so I made my own **UPDATE** **STEP files released (21-02-2021) - Use the mounting feet to create our own version!** I've added 'Battery Mount - Just the Feet.step' to the repository for anyone that wants to combine them with their own battery holder or an existing design. It's a messy design, but it works. :-) Enjoy! **UPDATE** **Version 4 released (19-02-2021) - Added clip to hold battery in place.** By popular demand I added a clip that holds the battery in place, which prevents it from falling out on occasion. Also opened up the bottom/side of the battery mount, making it easier to push out the battery when needed. **UPDATE** **Version 3 released (06-11-2020) - Optimized to print without support** I added a bevel to the mounting feet and the battery guard to enable printing without support. Also added some detailing on the side for visual effect. On my print settings this version saved about 15 grams of filament and almost 2,5 hours in print time! **Cable tip:** TIEGEM makes an usb-c cable that's 30 cm long and has 2 x 90 degree connectors. This is just about the right length, and the color really ties the whole thing together. Still working on a new clip-on version of this design with a detachable battery case that doesn't require using velco or rubber/foam to attach it to the Elite Strap. Might release in a few weeks. **UPDATE** **Version 2 released (24-10-2020) - Made few minor upgrades to the battery mount:** I tightened up the design, bringing the battery about 4 mm closer to the back of the Elite Strap. This makes the adjustment wheel al little easier to operate, and the battery sticks out less. Also shaved-off a piece of the top of the battery mount to create a sleeker look (and it saves on print time as well). For a final touch, I added a white usb cable with chrome plugs, that ties the whole thing together. **Design process** First component was a white **Anker PowerCore 10000 mAh with standard usb port**. This model is cheaper than the usb c version and charges the Oculus Quest perfectly. This greatly improves your playing time and you could even charge the battery while using it. One design came close to what I liked, but was made for a different battery brand, and designed to be zip-tied to the rubber band of the headstrap. I didn't find that a very comfortable solution or visually appealing. **Frankenquest 10000mAh powerbank mount:** https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4604887 This design by ‘shell_fr’ inspired me to create my own battery mount that fits to the back of the Elite Strap, just over the round adjustment wheel. This way the battery mount doesn’t push into the back of your head, and the added distance makes it easy to adjust the strap when the battery pack is mounted. Charging LED’s are visible at the back and the button is accessible at the bottom of the battery mount. Also added the Oculus logo. **USB cable ** I use a 30 cm usb to usb-c 90-degrees charging cable to feed into the Oculus Quest. They are not as common as 25 cm cables and often black. The best cable I could find is a white 30 cm usb to usb-c cable with 2 x 90 degree connectors from Tiegem. This is just about the right length, and the color really ties the whole thing together. Still working on a new clip-on version of this design with a detachable battery case that doesn't require using velco or rubber/foam to attach it to the Elite Strap. Might release in a few weeks. **Mounting feet** The mounting feet need something rubbery glued to it to keep from slipping. I used a cheap mouse mat. You can fit the battery mount to the Elite Strap, either using zip-ties or with 12 mm velco straps. All-in-all pretty happy with the final result. It does put some extra load on your head, so the strap needs to be on a little bit tighter. But it increases your playing time by a lot. And you can always easily slip out the battery when you don’t need it. **Added bonus**: probably also works for the **Elite Strap with Battery** if you’re able to use the PowerCore to charge the Strap's internal battery..
