Oculus Quest 2 FOV expander facial interface

Oculus Quest 2 FOV expander facial interface

My first attempt at creating a facial interface that expands the Field of View of the Oculus Quest 2 beyond what's commercially available. The design takes some inspiration from the VRCover venting solution with an additional side-vented design. It is fully compatible with the stock Quest 2 and the Glasses spacer along with the VRCover cushions and nose flaps. The fit is a little rough at the moment as this model was derived from Prezemoc's work which used a CT reconstruction rather than an actual CAD model however it appears to be fully functional and within the tolerances for normal use. I've made a few modifications to the design since printing, the side-vents have been redesigned to prevent light leaking so the pictures aren't entirely accurate. I'll update them when I get more filament. There are two models available with and without the nose holes necessary for the VRCover nose flaps, I'd recommend printing the one with holes just in case you get the flaps in the future. You will likely need to increase the nose-hole diameter yourself in order for the flaps to fit snuggly. In order to use the VRCover cushion with this interface (which I highly recommend) you will need some low-profile Velcro hooks, the easiest source for these are Velcro cable ties (see the picture). I might modify the design in the future to include recessed Velcro points however that'd only offer a fraction of a mm improvement. I'd recommend printing this in black PLA or anything dark for light-bounce reasons, marble PLA looks pretty nice though. This print needs a lot of supports due to the flex of the plastic, I'd personally print the piece off frontside up simply because it'lll help give a good finish. Tree supports are a good idea but you'll need a huge number of them due to how much this model flexes. Make sure that there aren't any supports in the vents, they'll be a pain to remove otherwise. Big thanks to /u/Deniz_Nedry for the pictures of this model, they turned out great.
