However I have some ideas for another simpler and better stand. Version 2 coming soon. April 17, 2016: I was expecting to have my Oculus Rift CV1 by now (order #613000026XXXXX, 6:19 order time) and was hoping to be in VR this weekend! Yah right, thanks Oculus. :( Instead of wallowing I thought I'd look for a rift desk stand to 3D print (surely someone must have designed one by now?). Couldn't find anything. Then I thought I'd go to JC Penney and steal a mannequin head, but knowing my luck I'd get busted. OK dag nabbit, I'll design my own. I estimated the dimensions the best I could based on pictures/specs available on the web. I also purposely designed an open area where I think the proximity sensor is located so that the rift isn't activated while on the stand, but I obviously can’t do a fit-check yet. For those lucky enough to have their rift, feel free to print it and give feedback. I’ll update the design when I finally get my rift, hopefully this week? Not holding my breath. sigh The design is split into multiple parts to allow for printing on most printers, then just press (and glue if you like) the parts together. The rear strap support is adjustable in and out to compensate for different size noggins. As with all prints requiring assembly, you may want to scale up or down some parts by 1-2% if the fits don't quite work for you (all printers are slightly different). There are some holes in the base that will allow you to insert 2 stacks of US pennies for weight. Seems pretty stable, but you could also velcro the base to your desk. More to come!
