UPDATE 3/19/2017 Just exchanged 3 models form the original file set so they may all be printed vertically for better print quality -Butt stock extender is not slightly shorter -Front receiver is now split into two models The Vive Top cone model has been replaced with a top cone .gcode that now includes the pauses necessary to put the nut inside the model as it prints. The magnet has been moved to the top of the cone and will need to be glued in place. I have included the .stl as well if you would rather create your own .gcode. it is set for 235 degrees for Makergeek's PLA I realized printing with the magnet inside the cone was foolish as the magnet just attaches to the hot end when it passes by. (DUH, it's a magnet....) ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ODST edition SMG with magnetic attachements for HTC Vive controllers, scaled and split into printable pieces. Each piece has connection points with the pieces it connects to, one end has female voids and the other end has male protrusions. These should provide a very tight fight, but may need some minimal sanding to add clearance. Make sure to use supports so these negative spaces do not deform if printing them horizontally, and also to make sure you remove and clean up support connection points as the tolerances for the male to female connections will be pretty tight and any left over support material will make that more difficult. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS You need to set the printing a specific way for the Vive top cones in order for your printer to pause to allow you first to insert the hex nut into the print, continue printing over it (this will encase the nut into the print) and again for the magnet. This is easily done using the Prusa color print feature on their website, just note the layer height in MM that you need the printer to pause for a "filament change" for you to insert the part, and continue on. Upload the finished Gcode from your slicer, add the "filament color changes" using the app linked below, and download the new gcode. Then print away! http://www.prusaprinters.org/color-print/ ########################### Things you will need to print: ########################### 1x of each of the files 1-5 to form the SMG itself 2x Vive top cone 2x Vive bottom cone ###################################### Things you will need in addition to the prints ###################################### 4x bar magnets - http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=BX8C4-N52 2x set of #8-32 round head machine screws with #8-32 matching nuts Super glue for the rifle body parts and attaching 2 of the bar magnets The Vive controller cones are a remix of the ones used in the "MagHak VR Rifle" by makeFOURdhttp://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1745148 I liked his idea, but found his magnet setup needing more strength as they disconnected too easily for my taste.
