Off Road Electric Casterboard

Hi, Here is my entry to the spaceclaim challenge. When thinking about what to design for this competition I wanted to make sure that the invention could be made in the real world and is something that people would be excited to use! Here is my "Off Road Electric CasterBoard" This is an extension of the idea of the original caster board but this now allows the rider to go anywhere and not be confined to the pavements and streets anymore. The board still works in the same way as a traditional caster board with each of the footboards being able to swivel independently around the central bar. The off-road tyres have been scaled and added to modified casters to give extra ground clearance and a softer ride. The board would give the rider a much more flowing snowboard style ride than a mountain board. For added excitement the board has been fitted with an electric motor (not show in my renders) which drives the rear wheel through a spiral bevel geartrain. As cables for the motor controls would get in the way as the rider skated, I have added a speed controller and transmitter on the caster which would be controlled through a trigger style remote control which the rider would hold in their hand. The footstraps are added to help keep the board on your feet over jumps, these were created directly in spaceclaim. I loved using spaceclaim to create this design, it is so easy to remodel components, resize and fit together to create a completely new product in far less time than other CAD packages. This model was created purely using downloaded grabcad models modified only using Spaceclaim.
