Offline Dinosaur Game Magnets

When Google Chrome doesn't have an internet connection, you get the chance to spend your time making a dinosaur jump over cacti. Now, I'm giving you the chance to do this any time, on your refrigerator or other magnetic surface! This set of magnets features the protagonist T-Rex, a cactus, and a pterodactyl -- each of which prints in about 30 minutes. It's fun set of prints that still serves the useful purpose of sticking things to your fridge. This is also [available on Prusa Printers](https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/85355-offline-dinosaur-game-magnets). ## Printing instructions To make these, you'll need some disc-shaped magnets: 1/4" x 1/16" or 6mm x 1.5mm. If you have other size magnets you want to use, let me know and I can make a version for them. These models use embedded magnets added during the print - one of my favorite 3D printing tricks. If you use the included 3MF files, these already have a pause in place to let you insert the magnets at the right time. When the print pauses, simply drop your magnets into the holes and resume the print. There's a chance they'll rattle around a bit in the holes once the print is finished; to prevent this, you can optionally add a drop of super glue into the hole before dropping in the magnets. **IMPORTANT NOTE:** Due to a bug, if you print from Octoprint, the print will *not* pause - you must print from an SD card. I don't know if this is the case for other printers, but it occurs on my Prusa MK3S. If you want to slice the models yourself in PrusaSlicer, here's what you need to do to embed the magnets. In the Preview pane, move your vertical view (on the right hand side) to the first layer where the print covers the magnets. Right click on the "+" and select "Add pause print." This will add a pause at the *start* of this layer (*before* the holes are covered) so you can add the magnets. ### Want to get fancy? For a really polished look that looks almost injection molded, enable ironing! This gives a nice smooth look to the top, and the T-Rex still only takes 46 minutes to print. In PrusaSlicer, go to Print Settings > Infill. In the "Ironing" section, check the box next to "Enable ironing."
