And the density of ABS plastic is very similar to salt water so they are almost at equilibrium, while LDPE plastic is heavier than oil but lighter than salt water. Therefore, it should float between oil and saltwater easily. It can also attach to ropes and an industrial shop vacuum as to suck up all of the oil, you can also attached to ropes to leave the device unmanned. The diameter of the skimmer is around 4 feet, so it could be used in a variety of oil spills and easily be carried around to the spill site, it can also be scaled down so it can effectively be 3D printed. This device can help clean oil spills faster so it can help the environment and the workers so their time is freed up for more important things such as the expenses of the project, because a single small oil spill could cost up to billions of dollars to clean up, the skimmer could lower the costs by half because there is less need for workers.
