Olivia Colman’s 2019 Oscar Acceptance Speech Sarah Caroline Olivia Colman (born 30 January 1974)[1][2] is an English actress. She is the recipient of several awards, including an Academy Award, four BAFTA Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, four British Independent Film Awards, the Volpi Cup for Best Actress and a BFI Fellowship.[3] A graduate of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Colman came to prominence for her work in television. She made her breakthrough as Sophie Chapman in the Channel 4 comedy series Peep Show (2003–2015). Her other comic roles in television include Green Wing (2004–2006), Beautiful People (2008–2009), Rev. (2010–2014), Twenty Twelve (2011–2012), and Fleabag (2016–present). She also played various roles in That Mitchell and Webb Look (2006–2008). Colman won British Academy Television Awards for Best Female Comedy Performance for Twenty Twelve and Best Supporting Actress for Accused in 2013,[4] before winning a BAFTA for Best Actress in 2014 for her role as DS Ellie Miller in the ITV crime series Broadchurch. For her performance in the 2016 thriller miniseries The Night Manager, she won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
