This polychromed metope once decorated the east porch of the Temple of Zeus in Olympia (c. 460 BCE); the remains are in the Olympia Archaeological Museum. It is part of a series depicting the twelve labors of Heracles. The original metope was sculpted in high relief; the color scheme is based on research and aesthetic judgment. In the labor, Heracles was to retrieve the golden apples of immortality from a blissful garden near the Atlas Mountains. The garden was tended by evening nymphs who took great pleasure in singing. “The metope…is composed of the strong vertical elements: Athena on the left, Herakles in the middle temporarily supporting the Heavens and Atlas, who has just returned from collecting the apples, on the right.” More information: https://goo.gl/2JE7wE, https://goo.gl/uGVXjL Audio: “Space Chatter” by Doug Maxwell (YouTube Audio Library) Tools: Cinema 4D, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
