Omicron 3D printer (V3)

Omicron 3D printer (V3)

thingiverse

This is an update to my previously made [3D printer](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2584867). ### Changes: ### This version has multiple improvements, notably: ➜ Less stress on the z-axis shaft couplers (the weight of the extruding piece rests upon the 3030 aluminium beam instead of the top of the couplers) ➜ Shorter distance between the printing bed and the y-axis rods on the y-carriage, lowering the rocking of the bed when pressing on it. ➜ Larger printing volume on the z-axis (by about 3 cm). ➜ Single piece extruding assembly that is significantly easier to print. ➜ Addition of a BLTouch probe mount (it is optional but will lower failed 1st layers by a large margin). ➜ Overall stronger pieces that should last much longer under normal usage. I can't upload folders to thingiverse, so all files are mixed together but the STLs are in two categories: ➜ Optional parts (to hold the RAMPS board or protect the 3030 beams for example) ➜ Necessary parts (to just have the printer working) The bill of materials has not changed from the previous version, but the addition of a BLTouch probe to the printer is now possible and suggested. The upgrade from V2 to V3 is the same as building the printer from the ground up since all the crucial parts need to be swapped. Electronics and cable management is not difficult as long as you have a plug system in place (I used Dupont connectors). PSU to RAMPS connection is soldered onto the board since the connectors provided on the board will melt as soon as you turn the heatbed on (at least mine did). ### Prints: ### [Benchy:](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:763622) ➜ ESUN Black PLA+ ➜ 0.3 mm line height and line width ➜ 0.8 mm shell thickness ➜ 220°C (PLA+ prints a little hotter than regular PLA) ➜ 50 mm/sec (35 mm/sec for inner and outer walls) ➜ Cooling, no supports [Flexi Rex:](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2738211) ➜ Same settings as the Benchy [Spiral Cone:](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:648319) ➜ ESUN Orange PTFE ➜ Same as Benchy except: ➜ 250°C ➜ 35 mm/sec ### Thanks! ### If you decide to build this printer, I will always be happy to help! I can also provide the firmware for the printer upon request. I used Marlin with some changes to account for the build volume, endstop arrangement, thermistor type... etc.
