Omni Tool (Omni Blade) templates for laser cutting

<p>Feel free to check my YT video - I discuss some extra aspects of the assembly there.</p><figure class="media"><oembed url="https://youtu.be/08ZWLX_4YaY"></oembed></figure><p>My omni-tool (omni-blade) from the Mass Effect series. I designed it to match my N7 Armor cosplay. It optionally can be fitted with EL-wire lighting (there is enough space for the 2AA DC&gt;AC converter). Personally I decided against it since it looked quite kitsch imho.</p><p>DXF and CDR files are the templates you can use for laser cutting.<br>SKP is the raw sketchup file in case you want do edit the thing yourself.<br>Hinge STL is the hinge part for 3D printing (it also needs an m3 bolt, some washers and m3 nuts)<br>Omni tool STL is the visualisation of the bent omni-tool for reference.</p><p><strong>Notes</strong></p><p>The omni tool can be cut out of transparent acrylic/plexiglass/PET/PETG. I designed it for 3mm-thick acrylic but other thicknesses should also work well.</p><p>After lasercutting first glue it with cyanoacrylic glue (super glue), practice a bit on some scraps not to get any stains on the final piece. Bend it with a heatgun after glueing (CA glue should bend nicely together with the acrylic). The electronics box sides might need some corners sanded down to match the bend of the base piece.</p><p>The hinge mechanism can be printed on any 3D printer. It's meant to fit 3mm-thick acrylic. There are two versions in the file - one is a bit more tight, the other is loose. The piece with the pins needs to be glued to the 2nd flat piece without pins (the part was split since it would be hard to print it otherwise). Assemble the hinge on an m3 bolt, put m3 washers inbetween the plastic parts and between metal and plastic. Secure the joint with m3 bolts.
