OmniStand Extra Long Filament Spool Rods These filament spool rods allow the quick connect OmniStand and Non-Quick Connect OmniStand to hold slightly wider filament spools. These rods were originally part of the OmniStand set but were removed because of potential issues using them inside the printer. See the warning below before using these rods inside the printer. They are perfectly fine to use with the OmniStand Top Mount Filament Spool Stand on the outside of the printer. They also work with the OmniStand Top Mount Filament Spool Stand but are shorter than the 125 mm long spool rod that comes with that set. FILAMENT COMPATIBILITY If using the maximum length rod the top hole on the OmniStand can fit spools up to 190x82.5 mm (7.48x3.24"), but heavy filament should not be used with the maximum length rod. If using the maximum length rod outside the printer with the OmniStand Top Mount Filament Spool Stand, there is no concern when using heavy spools. Spools up to 280x82.5 mm (11.02x3.24") can be used. FILAMENT RODS The 103 mm long rod fits on either the left or right side. It can hold spools that are 80 mm wide. The maximum length 105.5 mm long rod can hold spools that are 82.5 mm wide. On my Dreamer the 105.5 mm long rod only fits on the left side when using inside the printer. SEE ALSO OmniStand Adjustable Filament Spool Stand OmniStand Top Mount Filament Spool Stand Non-Quick Connect OmniStand OmniStand Compatible Quick Connect Filament Spool Stands WARNING When used inside the printer, use the 103 and 105.5 mm spool rods with extreme caution! Filament spools heavier than 0.5 kg can possibly bend the plastic filament stands in towards the build plate enough to cause the filament rod's end to touch the build plate. DO NOT OPERATE YOUR PRINTER IF HEAVY FILAMENT MAKES THE SPOOL ROD TOUCH THE BUILD PLATE! I experienced this problem when printing with ColorFabb's 0.75 kg CopperFill filament using the 103 mm rod. The weight of the filament caused my filament rod to touch the build plate, breaking the rod during a print job. I have not had this problem with 0.5 kg spools, or when using the 100 mm spool rod with heavy filament. Instructions Please see the OmniStand for printing details.
