On The Couch is a real and virtual exhibition of intimate portraits by the artist John Derrick. It is a culmination of two years work painting these subjects from life on a paisley patterned couch involving intimate conversations resulting in a rich, psychological portrayal of the sitters’ inner lives. These paintings are presented in a pop - up gallery space in Footscray, Melbourne Australia - Subspace Projects. Subspace projects is a real physical gallery space and online 3D virtual reality gallery space. The paintings can be viewed in the real space and can be viewed online remotely anywhere in the world in a 3D Virtual Reality environment giving the viewer an immersive experience of the paintings.
