This head is a cast from a sculpture group featured on the facace of St. Laurent's (North) portal of Strasbourg Cathedral. The work, accompanied by many other post-Gothic, early-Renaissance style sculptures, represents one of the three kings in the biblical scene of the presentation and adoration of the magi. The work is also a very rare example of a person of colour represented in early Gothic art. The back of the head is not included in the casting.
