OpenSCAD Simple & Smart Spool Holder
thingiverse
This is an OpenSCAD crafting of a spool holder very much along the lines of dagoma's inspired design. Easily tweaked for the size you'd like by changing parameter values and re-rendering. Noticeable differences from the original are pre-formed countersunk screw holes for attaching to things, and the top of the axle is a cone rather than spheroid. Provided here are STL files for two independent parts, and also versions with adjacent discard-able towers - these make for a more reliable print when layers are small. Note that if you increase $fn, be prepared to wait a long time for the wheel to render. I recommend switching off "Automatic Reload and Preview" if you go high on $fn. See the source file simple_holder.scad for more commentary and details.
