Orca 0.43 X-Plate mod (get rid of the front bar)

thingiverse

This is my attempt to free up the front of the Orca 0.43 for a 40mm fan mount. UPDATE 25/11/2013 - New stl's uploaded, the parts now have a lip so that the M8 nuts / threaded bar pull on the correct face, rather than against the 'jigsaw' edge so you should be able to tighten the inside nuts up. Some dimensions have also been tweaked to fit better. Measurements are taken from the original x-plate, so everything should line up. Instructions Drill the holes to 4.2mm, 8mm (for the frame rods), 8.2mm (for the smooth rods) and 3mm, (for the motor bolts) Remove the old x-plate (easiest to remove the x smooth rods and threaded bars, just loosen off the z-axis smooth rod clamps, as well as the z and x optos and the x motor). Attach the smooth rod clamps and the x-belt bearings to the new plates, then put the new 'plates' in (you'll probably need to pry the sides apart a bit to get these in). Then run the threaded rod through from one side to the other adding nuts/washers as necessary. Make up two short lengths of threaded bar, (about 50mm each and secure the front of the 'plates' to each side. Refit the z-axis smooth rods, x-axis smooth rods (and stops/opto), x motor, and z-opto. Tension up the x-axis belt, and tweak the rear threaded rod to stop the belt wandering. PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS A WIP. :-)
