###Orienteering Control Post Top for The SPORTident Si “__Plastic Holder For BSF7 Station__” with Adapter Plate.### This control post top (blue) is designed to enable a __SPORTident__ (Si) “__Plastic Holder for BSF7 Station__” control box mounting plate to be mounted onto a standard 10mm x 8mm oval fibreglass electric fence post, suitably cut to length. This item has been designed to enable the cheaper fibreglass electric fence posts to be used as orienteering control posts. This specific control post top has been specifically designed to be used with the Adapter Plate (green); similar to <u>Thing: 5436342</u>, the depth of the hexagonal recesses are shallower to accommodate the thickness of the Adapter Plate and use 20mm long M4 countersink machine screws. When using the __SPORTident__ (Si) “__Plastic Holder for BSF9 & 8 Station (Converter)__” to mount a __SPORTIdent__ BSF8 or BSF9 control box on top of a control stake fitted with a “__Plastic Holder for BSF7 Station__”, the “__Plastic Holder for BSF9 & 8 Station (Converter)__” plate, together with the control box, is free to slide sideways by 7mm and, under certain circumstances, by 18mm. With the adapter fitted, the sideways movement is reduced to no more than 1mm. The adapter does not stop a __SPORTident__ BSF7 control box being fitted. This control post top is to be firmly affixed to the top of the 10mm x 8mm fibreglass electric fence post, which will need to be cut to a suitable length. My club cuts the electric fence posts to 600 mm above the foot plate. The __SPORTident__ (Si) “__Plastic Holder for BSF7 Station__” control box mounting plate has holes provided for M4 screws at a pitch of 20mm, with stainless steel fasteners being recommended to minimise the risk of corrosion. Two M4 x 20mm long countersink machine screws and M4 Nyloc nuts, to secure the __SPORTident__ (Si) “__Plastic Holder for BSF7 Station__” and the adapter to the control post top. Some of the available electric fence posts, specifically those with 150 mm steel spikes at the base, have the ovality of the fibreglass post turned through 90° with relation to the electric fence post foot plate. <u>Thing: 5436342</u> includes a design with the stem of the control post top rotated through 90° and a circular design with four mounting holes, allowing for both orientations. Similar versions of control post top with a shallower fixing depth for use with the adapter plate have not been produced. If you would like one created, please contact me. Although no photographs are available, I have produced twelve control stakes of this design, specifically as the CLEAR, CHECK, START and FINISH control stakes for my orienteering club. A second version of the adapter is included in this design package that has been created to indicate the direction in which the __SPORTident__ BSF7 control box or the __SPORTident__ (Si) “__Plastic Holder for BSF9 & 8 Station (Converter)__” should be inserted.
