THIS MODEL REQUIRES SUPPORTS. THE HEAD AND TAIL ARE ELEVATED OFF THE GROUND. After 11 days of working on this model it is finally done. This is an original Smaug based on the illustration by J.R.R. Tolkien for the book The Hobbit. This miniature would look good next to other old school miniatures from the 80s. This is my love letter to Tolkien. It is scaled to Gargantuan Size in 25mm-28mm Dungeons and Dragons and measures 114mmx 124mmx 71.6mm. The scale is based off the size of Bilbo Baggins in comparison in the original artwork. When printing Cura claims the front right leg is not manifold. I don't know why it reports this as I made it manifold. I have had no problems printing it anyway. If you print it, I would love to see your make. Special thanks to loubie for her Adlinda model which was a great place to start on an original Tolkien dragon. This one goes out to Jordan who suggested it. Fun Fact. While I was modeling this, I discovered the that Smaug is essentially a hotdog Wyrm. He has short legs and a huge body. When I modelled him in a straight line, it was quite comical. I have made the head slightly bigger than the picture so that it shows more detail and is easier to paint.
