Oscillating Cam Mechanism (398)

This mechanism was made with Autodesk Inventor 2014 and the animation was created with the Inventor Studio module. The idea comes from http://507movements.com/mm_398.html The mechanism was made accordingly with the source. A ball bearing is used as a contact roller to the cam. The three „hills” of the cam produce the notable oscillations of the right wheel. Basically, the cam shape was designed with the Design Accelerator module. Then the cam was modified, by adding the other side of the channel and the bottom. The very early stage of designing the assembly is included among the files. You can use it to edit the shape of the cam by using the Design Accelerator module. To do this you have to right click the „Disc Cam:1” object in the browser and to choose the „Edit with Design Accelerator” option, as you can see in the picture „Editing the Cam.jpg”. You can download the parts and the assembly, and then enter the Environments/Inventor Studio to set the animation as you wish, and to watch what happens. Enjoy!
