This ring is inspired by the Ouroboros dragon. The ring holds 2 gemstones with the dragon’s head in between. Like the Ouroboros dragon, the ring represents a loop.The black gem is made of carbon, which represents the start of the cycle. The clear gem is a diamond, which marks the climax of the cycle, and the beginning of a slow falling action.The dragon consumes the carbon and turns it into a diamond that will eventually decay, forming a cycle.The symbolism of the Ouroboros ring’s cycle may vary from person to person. When I see the Ouroboros ring, I think about the flow of time. The dark color of carbon represents the night, the clearness of the diamond represents the light of day, the body represents the passing of time from day to night, and the head represents the process of sleep. When we wake up in the morning, the Ouroboros has finished eating away the night, and has re-birthed our day.This Ouroboros ring is commonly made out of bronze, but the Ouroboros ring can be made out of gold. The Ouroboros ring staring off as bronze then turning into gold references the Ouroboros’ role in alchemy.
