Out of the box Christmas tree (Wood, electronics and 3d printing)

The project is made by combining my passions for woodworking, electronics and 3d printing. The main problem to solve was how to place the lights in the tree structure. The choice fell on a 20mm Plexiglas tube, to be used as a support for the battens, inside which to insert an aluminum square tube where the led strips are glued. The led strip, uses addressable RGB LEDs, which allows the control circuit to individually control the LEDs in the desired color and brightness creating astonishing light effects. The design includes a 60x60 cross planed fir wood base, which will contain the control electronics and act as a support for the Plexiglas tube, where the strips will be stacked separated by a transparent PLA spacer for the light effect to pass through. The tree tip is made using a 3d printer with transparent PLA as well.
