Since school is now remote, and all school supplies must be kept and managed at home, students may feel disorganized or have limited desk space. This organizer helps solve both of those problems. It features two drawer sizes and a cantilevered design to preserve precious desk space. A special built-in cord-organizing system reduces clutter and makes sure cords don't get tangled or confused with one another. It's sleek, minimalistic design ensures it will blend in nicely with any style of desk. One issue I faced during the design process was aligning parts to fit together with small tolerances. Often I had to redesign a part to make it line up with others. If I could do it again, I might have made the connections more simple. 3D printing is an attractive way to prototype new designs like this one. It allows a faster feedback loop between iterations, without the need for complex tooling and machining setups such as are required in subtractive manufacturing technologies. This flexibility also allows anyone with a standard 3D printer setup to make their own copy of the product at little incremental cost. More specifically for my design, the cord organizer part would be harder to make using other methods because it has complex geometry and small parts that would be difficult to fasten using traditional techniques.
