OX CNC Variant - V Slot/C Beam Hybrid

UPDATEI ended up buying a kit that saved me about £100 on the BOM for this. I've added a photo of it. The cost of the kit went up by £100 literally the day after I boutght it. That was luck. But it has basically the same dimensions as my design. I built a controller and developed a stepper driver, but it turned out to be marginally cheaper to buy the motor drivers. If anyone's interested, I'm happy to share how I drive it and what tools/software I use. So far it works really well..._______________________________________________I've been thinking of building a CNC router for some time now. With a LOT of research/pondering/doodling, I came to the conclusion that the Openbuilds.com V Slot system would be possibly the best compromise between affordability and precision/ease of build for my budget.That said, I like the new C Beam extrusions, but not the whole custom gantry plate thing. Additionally, I haven't used the 'internal' C Beam mini V based components in order to keep stress/wear on the wheels to a minimum.So I decided to put together a model of a C Beam/V Slot "OX" hybrid with leadscrews and better stiffness than the standard V slot OX machines available, and made entirely from parts available on openbuildspartstore.com. I have even generated a simple bill of materials for the mechanicals.Note that the model includes steppers and a spindle. These are not costed in the BOM, but are in the model to make sure the centre of mass for the gantry and the axis of the spindle all fell inside the Y axis footprint. Also, most of the individual parts are taken from the openbuilds IGES library available at openbuilds.com. The steppers and spindle were taken from Randy Wetzler's C Beam variant. SO many thanks for the effort they put into the models.Ultimately, it turned out reasonable well - not as expensive as I feared, but more expensive than I'd hoped. Finally, please note that the BOM cost is only a snapshot, and may already be out of date.
