This is a fridge badge magnet for a Knox Makers workshop: Intro to Pablo!http://www.knoxmakers.org This workshop will be a demonstration of how to use Pablo, our drawing robot. Pablo is a type of machine called a polargraph. We will talk about a bit about how polargraphs work, then dive into the Polargraph Controller Software. After covering the setup and basic structure, we will have demonstrations of the two main types of drawing Pablo can do: vector drawings with sharp lines, and rastering using variable shading. The vector drawings go pretty quick, but the shading takes some time. While the shading demo images is being drawn, we'll talk a little bit about spirographs because they are a fun vector to make, and how you can use gnuplot to make your own. After the demonstrations are complete, anyone who is interested in getting the Polargraph controller software set up on their laptop will be able to connect to Pablo and draw a quick test vector image. If you are interested in setting up the software on your laptop, please download the Polargraph software in advance. Anyone interested in hands on-time, but lacking a laptop can use the tiny netbook that lives with Pablo for testing. However, from experience, using the Polargraph Controller software on such a tiny screen can be quite frustrating.
