Pachinko Tower with Poker Chip sized dice

This is basically a modular dice tower, but with gear shaped dice, the size of poker chips. Designed for compact storage.

I always thought a pachinko like tower for regular dice would be fun, but just another dice tower. I wanted to design something more unique and challenging.

The grove the is over a peg is the number rolled, even if it is not at the bottom.

Design Limits:

It had to be printable on my Prusa Mini+.

Parametric and modular as much as possible.

I wanted everything printable with a 0.40 nozzle.

No supports.

Completely 3D printable. Even though I used steel pegs. Printable ones are included.

Challenges:

The Dice were a challenge. Finding a font and size that would be readable, once printed, was the biggest challenge. I printed them with a Layer Height of 0.15, all Extrusion Widths set to 0.20. I also use the slicer’s ability to change color at selected layers. If you have one, the dice should look better with a 0.25 nozzle. Everything else was printed with a Layer Height of 0.20 and default Widths.

The stand I initially designed with open sides. This printed poorly and proved weak. After adding the sides, the slicer would miss layers on one side. I tried 3MF but the bottom was sliced filled and empty space swapped. Found that AMF worked.

Printing:

Dice: Layer Height of 0.15, all Extrusion Widths set to 0.20

Stand: No skirt on the Mini.

Everything else was printed with a Layer Height of 0.20 and default Widths.

Minimum parts:

1 – Stand

1 – Tower Bottom

1 – Feeder

2 – Braces

4 – Screws to hold the braces to the top of the Tower Bottom

12 – Pegs if using printed pegs. There are some comments but they are not complete. I try using variable names that are descriptive. There are several dice layouts in the DiceVar.scad file. You can create your own based on the comments at the top of the file. I'll update the SCAD files once I comment and clean them up.

Acknowledgement: I used https://dkprojects.net/openscad-threads/ library for the threads.

Non-printed parts:

uxcell 3 x 12mm(Approx 1/8") Dowel Pin 304 Stainless Steel Wood Bunk Bed Dowel Pins Shelf Pegs Support Shelves 50Pcs
