It had good frontal armor but plus flanks that made the Panther vulnerable on the sides, a powerful 75mm high velocity gun that had more penetration than the Tiger's 88mm gun but less explosive power, and a good power to weight ratio. It was first used in the Battle of Kursk in 1943 and remained in service until the end of the war. it was produced to approximately 6000 specimens all versions combined.
