During World War II Packard Motor Cars received a license from the British luxury car manufacturer to manufacture it's famed V-12 known as the Merlin 66 in America for use in US warplanes. The result was the Packard V-1650, one of the most well known and most popular aircraft engines used in US aircraft (which isn't to say the Merlin wasn't equally famous). This is a complete model of the starter motor engaging mechanism, assembly 609970 for the V-1650-7, which is the version used in the P-51 Mustang. The one problem I had is that I can't find a good tutorial for making involute shaft splines. There are two parts that should have a 6 spline shaft interface between them, but I couldn't make them, so they are incomplete at this point. Please reference my previous model here:Packard V-1650-7 Engine Starter MotorPlease note! If you have previously downloaded my starter motor, there has been a change to the bevel gear that connects the motor to this assembly. Please go to the starter motor page to download the new part.Let me know what you guys think.
