Palm-Sized Makeup Palette

Palm-Sized Makeup Palette

thingiverse

This is a palm-sized palette to use for mixing colors for foundation and eye shadow. We wanted to try using a mixing palette for makeup, but we found that the commercially-made ones tended to be larger and more cumbersome than necessary. It was designed to be easy to hold in one hand while mixing and applying makeup. A slight rim is included to keep the pigments on the palette. It's small size and light weight makes it easy to keep in a handy location on the the beauty room counter until needed. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 10% diamond pattern Notes: I printed this in white PLA on blue painter's tape, and generally use a raft. Depending on your printing surface, a raft might not be necessary. Post-Printing After printing, a craft knife and small file were used to smooth the outer edges and surface. The slight texture from the medium printer setting seemed to facilitate mixing during use, but if you you prefer the mixing surface can be printed at the finest setting and then sanded afterward to make a smooth, shiny surface. How I Designed This This model was designed using the hobby version of 123Design. It's a simple shape, so all that was needed was to start with an elliptical primitive, resize to the desired major and minor axes, extrude to the thickness of the border and push the center mixing area down about 1/16 inch.
