Paper Towel Dispenser Key

Paper Towel Dispenser Key

thingiverse

Yet another key shape for a paper towel dispenser box. Thingiverse already has a dozen similar keys, but not this one. I've printed the keys with PETG and SAN. With three perimeter lines and 50% infill each. This gives a surprisingly strong key, even with PETG, wich is usually more on the elastic side. SAN is much stronger, and probably better suited. It shatters into sharp fragments, if broken, (PETG will deform before it breaks). While SAN is horrible to print for larger pieces due to strong warping, producing a set of these keys worked perfectly fine on the first try. In the slicer, I've cut 1.6mm from the bottom. This makes the key handle sit flat on the build plane and gives a minimal face at the round shaft. The horizontal bar does not touch the build plate, so make sure to enable support. With SAN, the support just falls off, when touched with a fingernail. With PETG, a knive and a file are needed to remove the support properly.
