Parameterized Brachistochrone Model

Parameterized Brachistochrone Model

thingiverse

The Brachistochrone (shortest time) problem involves physics and math to find the path down on which a ball sliding frictionless from rest and accelerated by gravity will travel from one point to another in the least time. This is an OpenSCAD parameterized model that allows a physical model to be created with any given set of points. Pre-generated models for a linear path as well as the solution path (a cycloid) that results in the shortest time are provided. Stands are included to support the paths, and these are designed to interlock to allow any number of paths to be placed side-by-side and tested at the same time. Any stiff plastic material may be used, PLA would be the easiest to print.
