Parameterized HICTOP Y-Axis Idler Pulley Bearing Mount

I was attempting to resolve the problem of my GT2 belts grinding off pieces due to the poor stability of the standard acrylic Y-axis idler pulley bearing mount, and I explored the designs of Bogul (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1225670) and slobooger (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1386106). These were greatly improved, but they did not completely remove the belt grinding. For that I needed to discard the 608 bearing and get a bearing with a rim. I used these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BTTEQBY (5mm bore toothless idler pulley for GT2 belt) with no endorsement other than that they worked very well for me. I created this fully parameterized Y-axis idler mount design so that I could easily try different sized bearings. The OpenSCAD script will generate Y-axis idler pulley mounts for both rimmed and unrimmed bearings across a wide range of sizes. It will also smartly adjust the dimensions of the part so that different bearing sizes work interchangeably with the same belt length, so you can try various bearings without affecting the rest of the printer. In summary, if you are using a 608 bearing as an idler and experiencing any grinding or violin sounds during your prints, then I highly recommend switching to a rimmed bearing of some sort with this mount, as it cleanly resolves this problem. The "idler_mount.stl" file is set to use a bearing which is 8.7mm thick, has an 18mm diameter rim, a 12mm contact diameter, and a 5mm center bore. It should be held on with an M5x25 bolt. The "idler_mount_stock_bearing.stl" file is designed to work with the included 608 bearing. Note: The OpenSCAD file uses my threading library for the clearance and mounting holes. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1686322 Print Settings Printer: HICTOP 3DP-11 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.5 x/y, 0.2 z, 1.5 perimeter, 1.0 top/bottom Infill: 50%
