Parameterized Medium Duty Hinge
thingiverse
This is a medium-duty hinge that I designed as part of an enclosure for my Prusa i3. Since I use a lot of 1/4"-20 bolts, I chose this size for both the hinge pin and fastening holes in the current STL file. The hinge measures 30mmx30mm on each side, with some extra space to accommodate the captive nut on the hinge pin. This part is fully parameterized using OpenSCAD, so you can easily adjust the hinge, fastener, and pin sizes to your liking. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 60% Notes: The model includes custom supports that keep the two halves of the hinge together. I used a wide brim in Slic3r to clean up the edges. After printing, simply work the hinge to break apart the supporting material, then use needle-nosed pliers to pull it out. Most of the support material should come out cleanly, and any remaining pieces should be easy to remove with something metal or filed down. I designed this part using OpenSCAD, based on a 1-1/2" long 1/4"-20 bolt for sizing purposes.
