Parametric cable gland (fitting) with metal set screw & nut

thingiverse

This is version 2 of my cable gland. The previous version (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2931587) included a 3D printed set screw, but the problem was that small 3d printed screws may be flimsy and break easily, limiting the tightening torque that can be applied. For that reason, this version uses a regular metallic M3 screw and nut as a set screw to secure the cable. In addition, it has a built-in snap off tab inside which acts as a filler and insulation to prevent that the screw damages the cable. The tab is held in place by the inner texture strands, and breaks off when you tighten the screw, pushing against the cable (see attached figures). Summarizing, the main advantages of this design are: - Uses a regular M3 metallic screw and nut to secure the cable which allows a higher tightening torque - Built-in snap off tab that acts as a filler and insulation, increasing the tightening surface and preventing that the screw damages the cable - Inner texture holds in place the tab and improves cable grip
