Parametric Distal Phalange

Parametric Distal Phalange

thingiverse

This parametric distal phalange version is designed for Robohand customization. It combines the intermediate and distal phalanges into one part, enabling adjustable finger lengths that mimic natural hands. The user can tweak settings like scale factor, intermediate phalange length, knuckle hole size for tapping threads, bungie hole size, drive string hole size, and proximal phalange slot width. However, the distal portion remains uniform to avoid unnecessary complexity. Printing this part is challenging but minor defects can be covered by wrapping with string and dipping in rubber. A test print on actual finger lengths showed proper functioning, but further testing is required for complete evaluation. The .scad file should be customized using OpenScad, a time-consuming process that may take up to 2 hours per finger on older laptops. Post-processing with OpenScad and Netfabb is necessary before slicing and printing the final STL file. Remember, this part requires medical expertise for implementation; seek professional help if required.
