An improved version of Whosawhatsis's Printrbot design features exterior smooth rods and a 27mm gap between them (requested modification by Whosawhatsis). The adjustment process is somewhat hacky, as it involves tweaking an inaccurate parameter. These alterations are implemented in my Thingiverse model (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:15611) of the Printrbot.
