Parametric Remix of HicWic's Universal Tool Holder for MPCNC (US or IE version)
thingiverse
After creating the Parametric Tool Holder for MPCNC, a user asked about developing one for the Universal Mount. I hadn't looked at this before and it seemed quite useful, so I decided to recreate the geometry parametrically. The most difficult part was getting the correct angle and offset for the EMT Mount holes, but this design should match the original very closely. I began recreating the design starting with the US version since that is what I use, then added the IE version into the design. The main change options in the design I made were: Easily adjust the height of the printed part Hex nut recesses are rotated 30 degrees to minimize overhang printing problems Option to chamfer the EMT vertical sharp corners Option to chamfer the slot opening at the top Change the Z offset of the mounting holes and tool holder holes The only variable you need to change between the US and IE versions is: EMT_US_IE = "US"; //US standard version EMT_US_IE = "IE"; //IE version One thing I don't like about this design are the access holes cutting through the sides of the part. I overlaid the 2D geometry profile of one of my tool holders and it looks like there's room to change this design so the access holes don't cut the sides, but for now I matched the original design as closely as possible to make it parametric. I haven't printed test prints of this, but have overlaid this design with the original and it looks pretty close. Let me know if you have any issues with the design.
