Parametric Tetrahedron Top for Delta 3D Printer

Parametric Tetrahedron Top for Delta 3D Printer

thingiverse

While designing my version of a Delta 3d Printer, I decided to put a tetrahedron on the top. While it was still clear in mind, I made 3 parametric versions of the corners so others can utilize this idea. The 3 different openscad versions handle 2020, 2040 or 2060 V-slot vertical supports. The Wid variable is the primary variable you will need to change, but there are quite a few other variables you can adjust as well. It will probably work with other types of aluminum extrusions, but you will have to play with the variables & maybe the code a little. I also included an openscad script to calculate the lengths of pipe to cut. I am using 3/4" EMT, but you should also be able to use 1/2"EMT or any other type of round or square stock. This tetrahedron should give better stability to the printer since it connects all 3 columns at the top. There are also 2 openscad versions for the apex, one for 1/2"EMT & one for 3/4"EMT. You will probably have to play with the variables some to get this to work for different sizes. If you have trouble with this, let me know what size you want & I will see about making a version for it. The included stl files are the versions I am using for my build using 2060 vertical columns. The delta I am building is called an Emmett-Delta & the build log is located here:http://www.openbuilds.com/builds/emmett-delta.3052/
