I have a bunch of old shorts that are in near perfect condition except the waistband is so loose it's gained a few sizes. If their are strings allowing to tighten the waistband, run them through this to loosely "lock" them at you're desired tightness while still allowing for easy stretching. This may also work for working waistbands as a lazier tightener. Still works after machine washing & drying even with heat but you may want to check your filament and washer/dryer specifications. This is designed to slip inside the waistband between the string holes and run the strings through the locking slits. _You may need to cut some stitching in the center of the waistband to slip it through._ The easiest method I've found to insert it is by: 1. Slipping one string through the side slit 2. Folding the opposite flap outwards 3. Inserting the tightener through the first string hole 4. Pulling the tightener through the opposite string hole 5. Slipping the other string through the side slit 6. Slipping the strings through the second slits - two options: - Cross the strings and insert them through the opposite flap slit. _The flaps will "tie" each other and hold, but may also break easier if over-tightened._ - Insert the strings through the same side flap. _Less likely to break, but may not maintain tightness as well._ 7. Simply pull the strings to tighten and pull the waistband to loosen
