Parametric Wire Spool

Parametric Wire Spool

thingiverse

A parametric cable spool, for organising loose hookup wires etc. It's designed to be scalable, easy to print, and minimise material use. This spool could also be useful for small quantities of filament, if you can print large enough! The two parts are simply glued together after printing - I use epoxy, but super-glue should also work, as will ABS-juice if the part is printed in ABS. Use the customizer to make one to the appropriate size, or download the openscad script and use it directly. The default dimensions are good for a small hookup-wire spool. An example customizer remix is here, a slightly smaller spool for hookup wire (the small spool in the photos here). I would recommend that the Hub Inner Diameter should be set to about 5mm larger than the diameter of the bar / rod the cable spool will be mounted on, to allow clean free rotation. If you reduce Socket Clearance under advanced-settings (socket_clearance) to 0, depending on the nature of your printer you may get a push-fit, and glue will be optional!
