Parrot Sequoia Mount on DJI Mavic Drone

Parrot Sequoia Mount on DJI Mavic Drone

I have a friend working on his PHD in Geography and he has been planning a trip to Ecuador to do some mapping and gather farmland data as part of his dissertation work. He employs the use of a DJI Mavic drone to gather images and data and he planned to use a Parrot Sequoia multi-spectral sensor to be able to gather even more data, but he needed some way to mount in on his drone. He saw something he liked from someone in the Netherlands and reached out to see if I could design something similar. The mount you see firmly holds the two sensor packages in place while providing 3 methods (the sensor array is $3500, definitely don't want to lose those mid flight) of attaching said mount to the drone. The Sunshine sensor slides into place on the back rails. The down-plane sensor array is captured in place below the mount with a small legged cage and the use of 4 #6-32 nuts and 4 1" #6-32 screws (could probably substitute M3's here) The last piece acts as both rear landing feet, and as a securing method for the mount (snaps into the two metal tabs on the Mavic. The two other methods of attachment to the drone are small through holes (counter bored to prevent interference with mounted sensor array) that should line up with two screw holes in the drone. Also slots are in the side to allow a Velcro strap to go around the drone as a last safety feature. I printed two sets of these parts for him and he left Saturday for Ecuador. Hopefully I can get some pictures of it in action and I'll update this page.
