Party Popper Gun

Party Popper Gun

Before anyone asks "Why?", my answer is this: "Just because, okay, get off my back" Party poppers are fun, but making a firing mechanism just makes them more fun. I may make a six-shooter version next. To load this device: take a standard party popper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_popper), and insert it into the barrel, thin end first. Push the Hammer all the way forward (while pulling the trigger slightly), then release the trigger so that the latch catches the hammer. push the party popper all the way into the barrel, so that the thin end protrudes, then push it back about 1cm (the gun needs a little wind up to get momentum to pull the string). loosen the string, then wrap it around the hammer, pulling it snugly through the notch to secure. pull the trigger to fire. Instructions Print all parts ( "platedgun_fixed.stl" contains all parts): -6 x dowels -4 x spacers -1 x fat spring retainer -1 x gun body -1 x trigger -1 x hammer -1 x handle OR 1 x handle-RIGHT & 1 x handle-LEFT sand/grind the parts as required to make the printed dowels fit into the holes provided insert the dowels into one side of the handle (as shown in the pictures). install the spacer rings, hammer, trigger, barrel, and spring retainer. Insert a spring (8mm OD * 20mm long) between the spring retainer and the hammer. it helps if you use some glue to stick the end of the spring into the spring retainer. press fit the other side of the handle. ready for fun! EDIT: I have uploaded a slightly stronger design for the HAMMER component, as mine failed. I suggest printing this part at 80% infil with 4 perimeters and solid infil every 4 layers, to get a slightly stronger part.
