Paterson Reel 70mm Film Spacer

Paterson Reel 70mm Film Spacer

This is a pressure fitted sleeve for a paterson reel with helper tabs, it should be noted that I did all my measurements and testing based on a reel with helper tabs and not one of the older paterson reels that don't have the tabs. You insert each separated half of the paterson reel into the associated sides of this spacer the large side is pressed in very tight the inner (small) side slides in and retains the ratcheting paterson action. This allows for reeling 70mm, 116, or 616 film and developing in your standard paterson tank. When finished you gently turn the small inner reel side counter clockwise and it separates releasing the film. To remove the spacer it will be a very tight fit, it uses tension to hold it together, place your thumb against the helper tab and with a firm grip twist the spacer in the opposite direction to separate. It should be noted this was made with PETG and finish sanded to a preferred slip point, not all printers are equal and some finish sanding should be expected to achieve a good "break away". Final note, this is still an ongoing project and a V2 will likely be coming. Also, I had this printed with a third party I did't print this myself so I don't have any specific printer settings to share.
