The iconic bird that went from ark scout to international peace symbol. Print your own salute to world peace! I have also made a version to suspend from the ceiling or hang in a mobile: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1034386 The text I put on it is in Dutch, and translates to 'peace and good things', the signature greeting of Franciscan followers, like my grandmother, for whom I made this sculpture. I only included the blank version here. The bird itself was not modelled by me; all props go to a guy called Peter Behrens on http://archive3d.net/?a=download&id=58b6be71 . I just made the stand and the branch, and made it more print-ready. Depending on how you print it, you need hardly any support material. Some afterprint love is required though - which is only symbolically justifiable. If you make one, please share the results! Print Settings Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.4 nozzle, 0.1 layer height Infill: 30% with 30% overlap Notes: 3MM PLA, Ultimaker Original Instructions I have uploaded two versions: one with the complete dove in one piece, and one where the bird is split in twine for easier printing. Choose whichever fits your printer better; the full model will need extensive support, the split model only a bit. The feathers are very thin; your printer (just like mine) might have problems printing them. I scaled the model in the direction of wing thickness to 120%, which made it just that tiny bit stronger around the wing tips. It's barely noticeable in the dove's body. The two parts were connected using super glue, which works like a charm. The holes in the model I carefully drilled out with a 2mm drill, just enough for the branch to fit through and the stand to connect to the bird. If you're handy with CAD modelling, print your own text on the stand. As I want to share the design, there's no sense in leaving the dutch text on it for everyone.
