Why Pegboard Is Terrible
I've always liked the idea of pegboard, but hated using it. Every time you reach for a tool you're just as likely to get the holder along with the tool as not, and that's **frustrating!** I was looking for other options and then realized that I'm supposed to be some kind of engineer, and I have a 3D printer. After several bad ideas, I came up with this. I present to you:
Pegboard Isn't Terrible Anymore!

(PITA for short)
The idea is simple. Attach a thing to the pegboard using hooks similar to a french cleat, but then lock it in with a screw (from the front) so that it can't come out. Easy, right?
To use
Print out the mount and run an M3 tap through at least one hole. I usually run through all of them using a drill. Hang the mount on your pegboard and drive an M3x10 flat head cap screw through one or more of the threaded holes. Done!
Notes
Search Amazon or similar for "M3 FHCS". A pack of 100 is about $10 and each mount just needs 1 or 2. I dialed in the sizing to work with my metal pegboard (wall control brand from Home Depot) and my decidedly not-dialed-in printer. If your pegboard is the pressboard type, you'll need to make the hooks longer, but the fundamental design will still work exactly the same. When something doesn't fit quite right I usually adjust with a sharp utility knife, or run the tap through the hole again once the mount is seated on the pegboard to ensure I can get the screw through it.
What's Here
I've included a simple plate in both STL and Fusion360 with the mount geometry on it so that people can see how it works/duplicate it for their own purposes, along with a glasses hangar and mount for 1" PVC pipe which I use to hold up spools of filament and paper towels. Only the left side is uploaded here, and if you print it you'll need one unmodified and one mirrored along any axis in your slicing software to have a functional pair.
