Pegboard Screws for DIN Rail

These screws are intended for use with DIN Rail (specifically top hat rail IEC/EN 60715 – 35 × 7.5). Since I do not have any actual DIN rail on hand, I tested them with a 3D printed version of DIN rail (see remix and photos). Hopefully, someone with metal DIN rail will test these and let me know if improvements are needed.

These screws are modeled on the ones I used in my pegboard screwdriver holder (see remix), in two versions; I include both versions here for completeness, but I recommend using the VB2 version:

VB1 : The first version is simply the “original” screw with a flat head and and the addition of a 1mm “neck” (to accommodate the thickness of the DIN rail)

VB2 : The second version is the same as the first except that the sides of the screw are “trimmed”

The reason for the second version is that the width of the slot on the DIN rail is the same as the diameter of the pegboard hole, but the screw needs to have a slightly larger diameter in order to “bite” into the pegboard. This means that the screw thread diameter is slightly larger than the slot width. The plastic DIN rail has enough “give” to accommodate the slightly larger screw, but I wasn't sure this would work with metal DIN rail, so I made a second version of the screw with two sides of the thread “sliced off” to the slot diameter (see the photos to see an illustration of this).

The OnShape 3D CAD files for this are here :

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/990d81c88c100032631c048b/w/141696e95f8a6020e6b54088/e/9915f138333c48f3ebc903c2
