This year I made personalized pencils as gifts for people. I first had to make mounts for the pencils that would be sturdy yet allow me to swap pencils quickly.

I don't know if this is sturdy enough for real CNC machining… let me know! If this mounts on other machines or if you need a tweak in the design also let me know and I will update it if possible :)

Please let me know if this works for you or if you need any changes!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Print 1x Hinge mount and 1x screw mount and secure a m4 bolt and square nut.

Print as many Pencil housings as you want!

Install the M4 nut and bolt into the screw mount with the bolt facing outside

Put the pencil into the housing. I used Ticonderoga #2 pencils. If you want to try this with other pencil brands I believe this would also work :)

Mount these to your worktable. give the pencil 1-2mm of slack so you can remove it easily.

Then you only need to calibrate your machine to the face you plan to engrave and you are good to go!

Good luck! Post a Make if you like!
