Pendant of the World

My name is Lauren Lee and I attend Kennedy Middle School. The Pendant of the World is a design that showcases the diversity of the world. It is a pendant decorated with an outer mesh of mugunghwa, which is the Korean national flower. I chose the Korean national flower because I see the world through my Korean heritage. Through the mesh of mugunghwa, you can see a globe of the world. If you open the pendant and look through the continents in the globe, you will see 7 different flowers, which are national flowers chosen from each of the 7 continents. I designed the rose (U.S.A.’s national flower), the Chilean bellflower, the cornflower from Germany, the lotus flower from Egypt, wildflowers from Antarctica, the Australian parramatta flower, and the sakura from Japan. This delicate design highlights the world’s natural beauty. Although there may be worldly conflict, appreciation for beauty is international. My design is intended to promote the idea of global unity.
