Pentax MX-1 Grip and Cold Shoe

This is an accessory grip and cold shoe for the infamous Pentax MX-1 camera. With its relatively small sensor (for today's standards), the MX-1 does benefit from having an external flash. The grip makes the camera feel a lot more solid to hold as well, especially with a heavy flash mounted. The cold shoe can also mount microphones and other accessories.You can trigger the external flash by setting to optical slave and using the built-in flash to set it off. You can either have it act as a fill flash, maybe with a diffuser, or just block it from outputting any light directly to your subject. There is also a flash shield to prevent the built-in flash from outputting directly to your subject. You can use it, or your hand, or anything really. It goes over the shoe before you put the external flash on. The fastest I can get the flash to sync is 1/80, usually works with trailing curtain sync mode. Even with this setting I sometimes don't "catch" the strobe, so make sure to take some pics with it off during your shoot so you can compare. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7-SLSwETIc
