Permanent Magnet electric generator (alternator)

Permanent Magnet electric generator (alternator)

thingiverse

My attempt to build a permanent magnet generator / alternator to be used in a wind turbine. The generator has a double rotor fitting 10x30x2 mm neodymium magents (20 magnets in total). Other materials needed: Two 608Z ball bearings, an 8mm diameter shaft, 0,3 mm enamelled copper wire for the coils and M3 & M4 screws and nuts. Electronic component BOM and scematics will be published later. Five coils need to be wound fitting the chambers in the core. A winding rig will be designed and published here later. I will keep you up to date about the building and testing process. Note: Since this my first attempt to build a generator and I am no engineer, I am always happy for input and feedback. Feel free to modify and improve my freeCad file which I have included here. 2020 05 03: 3D print files ready for the generator core, the double rotor and the top an bottom covers. The rotor has been printed and equiped with magnets.
