Personalized wrench

Personalized wrench

I printed some wrenchs for our FabLab ( http://www.nybi.cc), as an idea for a possible gift during exhibitions, a sort of business card or something like that... We have slogans such as "hacking ergo sum", or "in bidouille we trust" and they are already here if you want to print them ^^ But since I took some wrench from the google warehouse, changed some things (inverting faces, rotating bits, to make it printable...) and removed the existing text to had mine, everyone can make their own personalized wrench quite easily in Sketchup8 :) They are not intended to be used as real wrenchs, but maybe that can work if you don't need to tighten things with too much force (and are also possibly not metric, I haven't checked). Instructions Choose a wrench and create a 3D text (check "plain" uncheck "extruded") Copy the chosen wrench somewhere you have space to work-around and move the flat text just over the surface of the wrench (using the face and top view is useful for that). Eventually scale your text to fit the space. Explode the both groups, that will allow you to extrude the text from one side to another to see trough the wrench (or you can also make it like if it was engraved) If you print on a glass bed or other nice surface, don't forget to turn the wrench 180° to have the better finish on the right side (my examples are still in the .skp file) export in mm/stl 5.2. check/repair with netfabb (it's in my routine, but not really needed, it only have 3 border edges) Print ! (and share)
